A forthcoming book
Most Muslims are handed rules to follow and sins to fear. Unburdened gives you principles, not an anything-goes approach, to reclaim a relationship with the Quran that is actually yours.

Who this is for
Your faith feels fragmented, full of questions that never quite fit.
You were handed rules and sins to fear, and it began to feel heavy.
You are serious about faith, but tired of rigid rules or vague comfort.
You want to go deep, but life has not left you the time.
About the book
Somewhere in the keeping, the meaning goes quiet.
For most of us, Islam arrives as a long list of rules to keep and sins to avoid, and somewhere in the keeping, the meaning goes quiet. Unburdened is my attempt to find it again. It builds on the framework of Mohamed Shahrour, the Syrian thinker whose principled way of reading the Quran reshaped my own, carrying his ideas to English readers and taking them further. The result holds the heart and the mind at once: not an anything-goes faith, and not a heavier one, but a set of principles you can actually carry, so the relationship is finally yours.
What this book is
Not a louder set of rules. A way back to the Quran that finally fits together.
A way to read the Quran for yourself, instead of another list of dos and don'ts.
Faith that holds up to both, without dissonance or contradiction.
Clarity earned through deep, careful reading. Not quick or forced answers.
Questions
When does the book come out?
My target is Spring 2027. Join the list and you will hear the previews, the milestones, and the release before anyone else.
What will it cost?
Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
Do I need to know much about the Quran already?
No. Unburdened is written to be read from wherever you are. It asks for openness, not expertise.
Is this a stricter approach, or an anything-goes one?
Neither. It is a set of principles for reading the Quran for yourself. Not a looser faith, and not a heavier one.
Is this still Islam?
Yes. There is nothing more faithful than taking the Quran's own invitation to reflect, reason, and question seriously. This is for people who have felt burdened to the point of walking away. The hope is to help you reconnect with Islam as something that belongs to you, a gift from God that no one else can own or mediate.
What do I get for joining the waitlist?
Notes from Sara as the book takes shape: early previews, the ideas behind it, and first word on release. Free, and roughly monthly.
How is Sara's Letter different from the book?
The book lays the foundation. Sara's Letter is a paid monthly letter that carries those principles into the biggest, hardest questions of a life of faith. Distinct from the book, part of the same body of work.
